OPEN SPACE
Thanks to the heartfelt persistence of visionary individuals and organizations, Eagle County is bestowed with a number of public open spaces that serve us in important ways. Compared to high alpine environments that require more time, effort and ability to reach, these parcels of protected land within the valley floor are more convenient and accessible to our community and our visitors.
Open spaces enhance our overall standard of living, support mental & physical health, provide daily doses of nature and recreation, and help maintain real estate values. Equally important is the vital role they play as wildlife migration corridors in the spring and autumn, and essential habitats in the winter.
The EVW project reveals and celebrates the high value of designated open spaces in order to increase support for their continued protection and procurement.
